Nail art where all that glitters is gold
Simple nail art can be attempted at home, but if you want something a little more detailed, it is best to head over to the salon for a professional job. Since nail art is becoming increasingly popular every day, most salons have trained personnel who can paint your nails in any design you choose. To try a little simple nail designs yourself, all you need is some nail polish, preferably a bright or distinct color shade, a toothpick, or a bobby pin or a fine paintbrush (zero sized) which you can get at any art store, some acrylic paint or just some extra shades of nail polish. You also need clear nail polish. You could also get yourself a nail art kit, which comes with nail art pens and other equipment of its own. Alternatively, you could get yourself an airbrushing gadget which sprays designs onto your nails, but that is a little expensive. Going to the salon is a more inexpensive option. If you want to go the D.I.Y way, begin by checking if your nails are well-manicured, and then proceed to applying two base coats of nail polish in a color of your choice. Once your nails are dry, you can get out your acrylic paints or contrasting nail polish and brush or toothpick, and start making simple designs, like a small dotted flower or a little smiley face, etc. When the paint is dry, apply a top coat of clear nail polish (this helps in making your nail art designs last longer, and is especially useful if you choose to use flat nail art stickers and decals). Glitter, rhinestones, nail stamps, nail art stickers and decals can also be used. If you do not want to or cannot paint on your own nails, you can use artificial or acrylic nails.
